BUILDING THE OCS SOUND

The Ottawa Choral Society is hiring singers with advanced choral skills for the 2007-2008 season to enhance our “full and confident sound” (Ottawa Citizen, Feb. 07). Candidates will be expected to demonstrate exemplary vocal proficiency, intonation and tone in addition to a high level of reading ability.

Successful candidates will become members of the Ottawa Choral Society and will be expected to participate as fully as possible.  The usual OCS membership fee will be waived and all music supplied. Compensation will be based on a per service rate and will be contingent on a minimum level of attendance. Detailed terms and conditions of engagement will be specified in a season-long contract (September–June).

The Choral Society values additional skills and experience such as vocal coaching, sectional leadership, and solo work. If these additional skills are utilized within the contract season a preset service fee will apply.

Next season's concert dates and repertoire for the OCS subscription series and engagements with the National Arts Centre Orchestra and Ottawa Symphony Orchestra are listed under the 2007-2008 Season.

Auditions and interviews for potential candidates will take place in late August and early September.
