CORPORATE
SPONSORSHIP
YOUR PARTNERSHIP WILL GIVE US THE FINANCIAL STABILITY TO ACHIEVE OUR OBJECTIVES
The Ottawa Choral Society (OCS) is a federally registered charity incorporated in 1976. In keeping with our charter’s mission statement, the primary focus for financial resources is the presentation of an annual concert series, comprising a minimum of three productions. The choir also performs under contract with the National Arts Centre Orchestra and the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra.
Goals of the Ottawa Choral Society
· To contribute to the quality of life in our community.
· To maintain artistic excellence.
· To present the major choral repertoire, both classical and contemporary.
· To present Canadian works as an integral part of the repertoire.
· To program music that is accessible and challenging.
· To support Canadian musicians and soloists.
· To ensure the financial stability of the Choir.
· To foster the growth of the Choral Arts by inviting youth choirs to perform with the Ottawa Choral Society.
· To provide financial assistance through bursaries and scholarships for young choral musicians.
· To collaborate with other performing arts organizations, both youth and adult.
· To extend the Choir's outreach by performing in communities beyond the Ottawa-Carleton region.
· To support community initiatives through benefit appearances.
Event Sponsorship and Marketing is a business decision. It is not a donation.
Benefits of Corporate Sponsorship
· Enhances public relations through positive media coverage and public awareness of your association with a recognized event – for instance, the annual Christmas with the Choral Society! Concert.
· Brands an aspect of the choir’s activities, e.g. the “Scholarship Singers”, soloists, domestic and international tour sponsorship.
· Provides Sales Promotion opportunity (e.g. proof of purchase of the product may win a ticket to the event).
· Company-hosted receptions allow for Business-to-Business marketing networking with prospective clients.
· Exposure through the Choir’s media coverage in print, radio, television, posters, flyers, concert programs and newsletters.
· Meets specific corporate business objectives such as increased sales, and heightened company and product awareness.
· Projects a positive corporate image as a socially responsible participant in community affairs.
· Provides a cost-effective way of reaching a population increasingly divided into fragmented groups by culture, income, language, place of residence, education and age.
· Positions product or service in the sponsor’s defined market.
· The net result is visibility, profile and exposure.
EVENT MARKETING is a PLANNED STRATEGY on how the company turns the "promotional opportunity" into increased business for the company. The company develops its own marketing package to communicate directly with its market. Events provide a marketing opportunity to access and identified audience, complement other communication programs and meet specific business needs at the local, national and regional levels.
FINANCIAL PROFILE
Revenue
Earned revenue from box office, performance fees, etc. is supplemented by grants from the City of Ottawa and the Province of Ontario, a number of fund-raising events, and private sector support in the form of corporate sponsorships and donations from individuals, foundations and small business concerns.
Notably, choir members themselves account for one quarter of income through annual membership fees, organizing and participating in fund-raising events, personal donations and purchase of music.
Currently, the fiscal dynamic of a semi-professional performing-arts organization such as the OCS, operating within the cultural space of the national Capital Region, is such that each corporate sponsorship dollar raised in support of the symphonic-choral masterworks that we present, is multiplied at least ten-fold by revenue from other sources.
Expenditure
Artistic costs for orchestra, soloists, music director, composers, rehearsal accompanist, etc. comprise nearly two thirds of the budget.
Expenditure for publicity, promotion and advertising, to communicate targeted information in various forms to many thousands, averages 10%. Spending within the artistic sphere has been recently refocused on choral development. New this season, we have awarded five “scholarship” bursaries of $1,200 to young vocal musicians. Additionally, specialized instruction and coaching is now provided in an expanded weekly session as well as intensive workshops.
The Ottawa Choral Society is committed to working closely with our Corporate Sponsors to ensure the highest possible return on their investment. The following describes in more detail the rights and benefits accorded to each category of sponsor in association with the individual performances.
The Ottawa Choral Society offers three levels of corporate sponsorship - Gold, Silver and Bronze. The benefits of each are outlined in the following table.
