Wednesday, February 24, 7 PM Dr. Julia Davids is co-author with Stephen LaTour of “Vocal Technique – A Guide for Conductors, Teachers, and Singers” published by Waveland Press in 2012 and winner of Choral Canada’s 2014 award for Best Choral Publication. In this session, singers will learn more about their voice, demystify aspects of vocal technique, and learn to work around vocal limitations to maximize their singing potential. Want a teaser? Wednesday, March 24, 7 PM Licensed body mapping educator and choral conductor, Dr. Nicholle Andrews, will introduce us to an important wellness tool for musicians. Taught in universities, conservatories, and private studios world-wide, Body Mapping invites us to replace our faulty body maps with anatomically correct maps in order to reduce tension and allow for effortless and expressive singing. Wednesday, April 28, 7 PM This workshop will take participants through contemporary gospel music repertoire demonstrating and 'deconstructing' the form in a way that allows them to not only understand the performance practices but to create an authentic gospel choir sound. A great opportunity to explore this genre, led by the director of the Toronto Mass Choir.
