It was widely rumoured that the pre-eminent 18th century court composer, Antonio Salieri, jealously suspected that his young rival Mozart was the true "voice of God", and may even have tried to do him in!  Yet, having survived the wicked characterization of Peter Shaffer's play Amadeus, Mozart's place at the pinnacle of genius remains undimmed.  We never tire of his inventiveness, his exuberance and his voluptuous melodic charms.  And nowhere is his brilliance found in more generous abundance than in this Grand Mass in C Minor.  Composed as a promise fulfilled to his young bride Constanza, its gorgeous coloratura showpieces were written for her to sing.  The Mass received its premiere performance in Salzburg in 1792 but, incredibly, was not heard again for another 119 years - a sad loss for generations of music lovers.

Ticket Prices:  Adults $40, Students $10.
